Doctors

Dr Joan Kearney

Originally from Headford, Co. Galway, Joan graduated from NUI Galway. After graduation she worked in a wide range of acute hospital settings in Ireland and the UK. She worked in General Practice in Australia and returned to Ireland in 1993 to continue her work in general practice. She joined Pinegrove Medical in 1999. Joan has the Certificate in Family Planning. She is competent in the insertion and removal of intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants. She also has a keen interest in cardiovascular health and a special interest in mental health. Dr Kearney is the GP Trainer in the practice and is also involved in undergraduate training with NUIG.

Dr Patrick Burke

Originally from Fermoy, Co. Cork, Patrick graduated from NUI Galway in 2012. He started on the Ballinasloe GP training Scheme in 2013 and worked in various hospital specialities before working in GP practices in Galway and Roscommon. He joined Pinegrove Medical in 2017. He has post graduate diplomas in Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Musculoskeletal medicine. Patrick is competent in all areas of family medicine with a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine. Outside of work he is actively involved in Gaelic Games and Athletics.

Nurses

Marie Fox RGN

Marie qualified as RGN from Galway University Hospital in 1983 and as Registered Midwife from Solihull/Marston Green Hospital Birmingham in 1985. She worked in acute hospital settings in GUH, Merlin Park and Mayo General before commencing work in primary care in 1989. Marie joined Pinegrove Medical in 2003. She holds a Diploma in Primary Care Diabetes Management and Certificate in Breast & Cervical Screening. Marie is qualified and experienced in: Childhood Immunisations, Chronic Disease Management and Phlebotomy & Wound Care, and she is registered for the Cervical Screening Programme.

Annemarie Boyle RGN

Annemarie is a registered General Nurse and Registered Midwife. She qualified from University Hospital Galway and gained experience as a staff nurse in both Galway and Dublin Hospitals. She qualified as a midwife from the Coombe Womens’s Hospital Dublin in 1993 where she was also a staff nurse in the Obstetrical Emergency Department, Labour Ward and Neonatal Unit. She joined Pinegrove Medical Centre in 2007. Annemarie is qualified and experienced in: Childhood Immunisations, Chronic Disease Management, Phlebotomy & Wound Care, Ear Lavage and Women’s Health and is a registered Smear Taker.

Christine McHugh and Lillian Quinn

Christine and Lillian are key members of our team. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience to support the clinicians and to ensure your overall experience of attending the Practice is as pleasant as possible. Christine commenced in the practice alongside Dr Linehan in 1990 and Lillian joined in 2022.

Practice Manager

Maura Donnelly

Maura took over as Practice Manager from Trish Linehan in 2022. Trish was officially appointed as Practice Manager in 2009 but had worked in the background over many years with Dr Matt Linehan and was actively involved in the development of Pinegrove Medical Centre.
